7 Surefire Ways to Stay Fit During Your Next Vacation

For most of us, vacations are sort of “cheat days” when it comes to doing anything healthy. However, it doesn’t have to be that way! Simple things that we do on our holiday can ensure that we are still on top of our fitness goals despite having a fun and enjoyable getaway from the daily routine. This article may just prove to be your cheat sheet to staying fit during vacation.

  1. Book a hotel that has a gym
    This tip is for when you are “planning” your vacation. Nowadays, most hotels have in-house gyms, so this should be easy. Make sure you budget time in your schedule to hit the gym, even if it means a 20-minute session on the treadmill.   
  2. Sign up for recreational activities
    The first thing you do after you have checked-in at your accommodation is to find out what recreational activities are available at the property. Many resorts and hotels organize activities such as pedal boating, short treks, and walks in the neighborhood. Sign up for a bunch of them that you will enjoy most.
  3. Go for an Adventure
    Almost every popular vacation destination has some adventure sports that you can try. Rock climbing, surfing, scuba diving, paragliding—choose something that gives you an adrenaline rush. Adventure sports is an effective way to burn more calories and strengthen your confidence.
  4. Explore on Foot
    Travels are all about exploring new destinations. If you enjoy sightseeing tours, consider opting for a walking tour or renting a bike. You will experience the destination and its people in a whole new light!
  5. Book a session at the spa
    A spa session is a great way to pamper yourself and refuel your energy levels. Massages have healing powers that can also relieve you of pains and aches.
  6. Go for a Swim
    Just lounge in the pool waters or enjoy a game of volleyball—even something as simple as pool walking in waist-high water makes for an effective resistance workout.
  7. Don’t Skip Meals
    It is easy to lose track of time and skip eating during regular mealtimes. Avoid falling in this trap as untimely eating can upset your blood sugar levels, leaving you feeling lethargic and irritable. Also, if you skip a meal, you are more likely to binge-eat at the next one and load up on more calories!
